Catholic Worship Book II

Catholic Worship Book II

The new edition of the Catholic Worship Book, which was first published in the 1980s, has recently been released. Catholic Worship Book II is published in two forms, a People’s Edition that contains all the texts with a melody line of music, and a Full Music Edition for use by organists/keyboard players and choirs or singing groups.

Catholic Worship Book II aims:

To be a book of liturgical music, not just a ‘hymnal’, providing music to accompany and complement the Roman Missal.
To enrich what is currently available for Catholic liturgical worship.
To guide liturgical music ministers, who can be assured that the music is theologically, liturgically and musically appropriate.

Catholic Worship Book II includes:

All the sung elements of the Mass.
Music for all Sacraments, the RCIA, the Liturgy of the Hours and Adoration.
A wide variety of traditional and contemporary hymnody, including hymns for the liturgical seasons and for use during Mass and other Sacraments.

Catholic Worship Book II features:

Commentary or user’s guide at the beginning of each section.
Guitar chords (placed above the melody line) for more recently composed hymns.
Chants set on modern staves and notation (but without stems) for ready reading.
Works by Australian composers included where possible • A number of items composed specifically for children.
