Praying Together 2021
99 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will come with confidence to God in prayer. (pause) God of wisdom, you know us and love us. Be close to us and hear the prayers of all who call on you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans 8:26 In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Have you ever needed God’s help, but you didn’t know which words to use when praying? God knows our thoughts, and God is getting ready to fix our problems even before we know what the problem is! In today’s reading St Paul tells us that when we don’t know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit prays for us! Let’s close our eyes and sit with God in prayer for a few moments as we listen to some quiet music. If you don’t know exactly what to say to God, ask the Holy Spirit to pray for you. DISMISSAL May the Spirit of wisdom inform our thoughts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Tuesday Week 11 Ordinary Time 15 June 2021 “The Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words.”
