Praying Together 2021

100 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT As brothers and sisters in Christ, let us pray to God as our Father. (pause) God our Father, look upon us with love and make us your children in the one family of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians 12:12-13 The body of Christ has many different parts, just as any other body does. Some of us are Jews, and others are Gentiles. Some of us are slaves, and others are free. But God’s Spirit baptised each of us and made us part of the body of Christ. Now we each drink from that same Spirit. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE We place the needs of the world before God, who lovingly cares for all people. For the leaders of our Church: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For unity among Christians: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For respect of different thoughts and beliefs: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For healthy bodies and minds: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the love of Christ burn in our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
