Praying Together 2021
104 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Saints John Fisher and Thomas More lived in difficult times when they had to speak out against the king. Let us pray that we will be bold in standing up for what is right. (pause) Lord God, give courage to those who speak the truth even when it brings them trouble. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 14:15-17 Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will do as I command. Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you. The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Trusting in the presence of the Spirit, let us pray for the needs of the world. For our Pope, bishops and priests: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who are searching to find God: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the strength to live as Jesus taught us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For eyes to see the Spirit working in the world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God’s Holy Spirit fill us with joy. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “The Spirit will show you what is true.” Tuesday St John Fisher and Thomas More 22 June 2021
