107 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that our lives will reflect our faith. (pause) Ever-present God, may we live the faith we profess and trust in your promise of eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 5:35-36, 38-42 Some men came from Jairus’ home and said, “Your daughter has died! Why bother the teacher anymore?” Jesus heard what they said, and he said to Jairus, “Don’t worry. Just have faith!” They went home with Jairus and saw the people crying and making a lot of noise. Then Jesus went inside and said to them, “Why are you crying and carrying on like this? The child is not dead. She is just asleep.” But the people laughed at him. Jesus took the twelve-year-old girl by the hand and said, “Talitha, koum!” which means, “Little girl, get up!” The girl got right up and started walking around. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Confident that Jesus hears our prayers, let us pray for the needs of the world. For children who are sick in hospital: (pause) We pray as one.
