109 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the grace and peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Saint Peter was the leader among the apostles and Saint Paul the missionary who preached the gospel to all. Their strong faith and leadership brought the Church to birth. Let us pray. (pause) God our Father, through the prayers of the apostles Peter and Paul, may we who have received our faith through their preaching share in their joy in following the Lord. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the second letter of St Paul to Timothy 4:17-18 The Lord stood beside me. He gave me the strength to tell his full message, so that all Gentiles would hear it. And I was kept safe from hungry lions. The Lord will always keep me from being harmed by evil, and he will bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. Praise him forever and ever! Amen. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
