118 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will raise us beyond what our eyes can see. (pause) Help us, O Lord, to love you in all things and above all things and so to come to everlasting joy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St Peter 1:3-4 Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so good, and by raising Jesus from death, he has given us new life and a hope that lives on. God has something stored up for you in heaven, where it will never decay or be ruined or disappear. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE What do you think heaven is like? Nobody knows for sure, but St Peter tells us in today’s reading that God has something special stored up for us. Close your eyes and spend a few minutes listening to som e quiet music and imagining what heaven might be like. As you prepare to open your eyes, say thank you to God for preparing such a wonderful surprise in heaven. DISMISSAL May God’s face shine upon us and be gracious to us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
