119 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will renew our faith. (pause ) God, ever patient and loving, may we joyfully proclaim Jesus as Lord and show by our lives that our faith is real. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 17:5-6 The apostles said to the Lord, “Make our faith stronger!” Jesus replied: “If you had faith no bigger than a tiny mustard seed, you could tell this mulberry tree to pull itself up, roots and all, and to plant itself in the ocean. And it would!” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Rejoicing in God’s care for all creation, let us pray for the needs of our Earth and its people. For farmers who grow fruit and vegetables: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the protection of the environment: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For patience when we are ready to give up: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For openness to receive God’s forgiveness: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God grant us faith and peace. Amen.
