123 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will watch over us and protect us. (pause) Almighty and merciful God, watch over your family and keep us safe in your care, for all our hope is in you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Jeremiah 31:33 They will be my people, says the Lord. The Lord says this: “This is the agreement that I, the Lord, will make with the people of Israel: I will write my laws on their hearts and minds. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Gathered as members of God’s family, let us pray for the needs of the world. For joy in the life of the Church: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For world leaders who work for justice: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the strength to follow God’s laws: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For respect and harmony between all people: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the Lord bless us and keep us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
