124 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will be faithful in serving God. (pause) O God, make us eager to serve you in faith, hope and love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 14:12-14 Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you for certain that if you have faith in me, you will do the same things that I am doing. You will do even greater things, now that I am going back to the Father. Ask me, and I will do whatever you ask. This way the Son will bring honour to the Father. I will do whatever you ask me to do.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE In the light of this new day, let us pray for the needs of the world. For peace throughout the world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For courage to ask Jesus for help: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For faith that Jesus will hear our prayers: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For willingness to help people in need: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer.
