Praying Together 2021
134 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Saint Dominic, founder of the Dominicans, sought to renew the Church through study, teaching and prayer. Let us pray that we will share his love of learning. (pause) God of wisdom, help us in our studies through the intercession of Saint Dominic. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians 4:8-9 My friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example, and God, who gives peace, will be with you. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Rejoicing in God’s care for us, let us pray for the needs of the world. For those who teach us about God: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For people who try hard to live a good life: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For a willingness to be friendly to others: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For peace in our hearts and in our world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the Spirit of wisdom inform our thoughts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “Follow my example, and God, who gives peace, will be with you.” Tuesday St Dominic 3 August 2021
