Praying Together 2021
142 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the grace and peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray for hearts filled with gratitude. (pause) God our Father, every good thing comes from you. Fill our hearts with love for you and help us to use wisely the gifts you have given us. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Ephesians 5:17-20 Find out what the Lord wants you to do. Let the Spirit fill your life. When you meet together, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as you praise the Lord with all your heart. Always use the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to thank God the Father for everything. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE It is not always easy to know what God wants us to do. We can spend quiet moments with God and wait for God to reveal the answer in our hearts. In the next minute of silence, become aware of your breathing. Feel your breath as it comes into your body filling you with life and with peace. The Hebrew word for ‘spirit’ is ‘ruah’ which also means ‘breath’. Imagine the Holy Spirit flowing into you with each deep breath. Enjoy this quiet time with God. Repeat these words in your mind: ‘Find out what the Lord wants you to do’. DISMISSAL May the Spirit of wisdom inform our thoughts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Friday Week 19 Ordinary Time 13 August 2021 “Find out what the Lord wants you to do.”
