144 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray for the gift of peace. (pause) Father of heaven and earth, shelter us from the troubles of life and show us the way to peace in the world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said: “If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Do you ever feel very tired and just want to rest? Do you sometimes feel worried and wish that you could give your worries to someone else? Jesus says, “Come to me and I will give you rest.” Watch this short video calle d “Come to Me” by Christopher Grundy as a reflection on the scripture passage. You will hear the words ‘Come to me’ many times. What a great comfort are these words of Jesus! DISMISSAL May the peace of God which is beyond all understanding rest upon us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
