Praying Together 2021

153 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray to God who blesses us with so many good gifts. (pause) O God, deepen our sense of reverence and nurture in us what is good. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the second letter of St Paul to Timothy 1:9-10 God saved us and chose us to be his holy people. We did nothing to deserve this, but God planned it because he is so kind. Even before time began God planned for Christ Jesus to show kindness to us. Now Christ Jesus has come to show us the kindness of God. Christ our Saviour defeated death and brought us the good news. It shines like a light and offers life that never ends. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Trusting that God lovingly hears us, let us place our prayers before God. For those who show us the kindness of God: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For courage to let our light shine in the world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For eyes to see others the way God does: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For hearts full of thanks and praise to Jesus: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God’s promises fill us with joy. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Monday Week 22 Ordinary Time 30 August 2021 “God saved us and chose us to be his holy people.”
