154 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that our love for God will be expressed in our eagerness to do good. (pause) Lord God, make your love and grace the foundation of our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 13:34-35 Jesus said to his disciples: “I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you. If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Gathered before God our Father and Creator, let us pray for the needs of the world. For the people who show us love and care: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer.
