Praying Together 2021

15 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the God of peace be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that our love for God will be expressed in our eagerness to do good. (pause) Lord God, make your love and grace the foundation of our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans 8:27-28 All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people. We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Prayers don’t always have to contain lots of words. We can sit quietly and ask the Spirit to pray for us. Listen to some quiet music by Arvo Pärt called ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’. In English, this means ‘Mirror in the Mirror’. As you listen, turn your mind and heart to God. DISMISSAL May the Holy Spirit enlighten us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Monday Week 6 Ordinary Time 15 February 2021 “The Spirit prays for God’s people.”
