174 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray for the courage to trust in God. (pause) Father, our source of life, you know our weakness. May we reach out with joy to grasp your hand and walk more readily in your ways. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians 3:12-14 Brothers and sisters: I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Jesus Christ has done. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE St Paul reminds us in today’s reading that nobody is perfect! What we have to do is to stay close to Jesus and keep trying. Let’s sing togethe r “Every Move I Make”. The words of this song remind us that we should keep our focus on Jesus in every move, every breath, and every step we take, thanking him for the wonderful gift of his love. DISMISSAL May God walk with us and guide us in every moment. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Tuesday Week 26 Ordinary Time 28 September 2021 “I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead.”
