16 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the God of peace be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will give us the grace to follow Christ. (pause) God, our hope and strength, do not let us falter as we strive to follow your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans 12:17-18, 21 Brothers and sisters: Don’t mistreat someone who has mistreated you. But try to earn the respect of others, and do your best to live at peace with everyone. Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Trusting that our God is near, let us pray for the needs of the world. For peace throughout the world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For justice where there is discrimination: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For love where there is hatred: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For harmony where there is discord: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God’s word strengthen our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
