Praying Together 2021
181 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the grace and peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will remember to ask the Virgin Mary to pray for us. (pause) Lord God, help us to fill the world with your love. Keep us open to the working of your Spirit and with Mary may we praise you for ever. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians 4:4-7 Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad. Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE The Rosary is a special prayer in honour of Mary. Have you ever seen someone praying with Rosary beads? Rosary beads come in all sorts of colours and sizes and are used to count prayers. One decade of the Rosary is: 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Marys and 1 Glory Be. You might like to pray a decade of the Rosary together, using your fingers to keep count. Alternatively, you might pray just one Hail Mary. Younger children may prefer to watch a short video which is a guided prayer on the Hail Mary. DISMISSAL May God’s motherly love surround us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Thursday Our Lady of the Rosary 7 October 2021 “Pray about everything.”
