183 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will grant us the joy of lasting peace. (pause) Faithful God, Pour out on us the spirit of understanding, truth and peace as we place all our hope in you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 14:27 Jesus said to his disciples: “I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Let’s close our eyes and reflect on our morning so far. What happened at your house this morning? Did you have a busy time getting ready? Was it a bustle to get into the car and through the traffic? Perhaps you had to catch a bus or train? Let’s put that busyness behind us now and take some slow deep breaths, Jesus tells that he can give us a kind of peace that the world cannot give. Listen to som e quiet music as you breathe slowly. With each breath, repeat the words of Jesus in your mind: “I give you peace”. DISMISSAL May the peace of Christ dwell in our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
