184 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT United in God’s love, let us pray. (pause) O God, we see your power in your mercy. Forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Colossians 3:12-13 Brothers and sisters: God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient. Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Trusting in God’s love for all, let us pray for the needs of the world. For kindness and gentleness in our world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who cheerfully spread God’s love: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For a willingness to forgive those who hurt us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For hearts full of praise for God’s mercy: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the joy of the Spirit fill our lives. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
