189 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will trust in God and worship with joyful hearts.. (pause) All-powerful God, increase our faith and help us to understand that you will make everything happen at the right time. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of Ecclesiastes 3:10-14 I have seen what difficult things God demands of us. God makes everything happen at the right time. Yet none of us can ever fully understand all he has done, and he puts questions in our minds about the past and the future. I know the best thing we can do is to always enjoy life, because God’s gift to us is the happiness we get from our food and drink and from the work we do. Everything God has done will last forever; nothing he does can ever be changed. God has done all this, so that we will worship him. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Today’s reading reminds us that we will sometimes have difficult things to do! It is a great comfort to know that God makes things happen at the right time.
