Praying Together 2021

191 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we may come to know the depth of God’s love for us. (pause) God, our Father, you fill us with love and kindness. Help us to love and serve others as we go about our day. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails! The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Gathered this day in the love of God, let us pray for the needs of the world. For all who are kind and patient with us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For wisdom to love as God has asked us to: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For self-control instead of losing our temper: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For kind words to brighten someone’s day: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the love of Christ inflame our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
