203 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will be close to us. (pause) All-powerful God, strengthen and protect us in our weakness and keep us in your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 46:4 The Lord said: “Even when you are old I will still be the same, and I will take care of you. I created you, and I will carry you and always keep you safe.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Rejoicing in God’s care for us, let us pray for the needs of the world. For the people in our lives who keep us safe: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For comfort when things are new or uncertain: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who feel alone: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the elderly in our community: (pause) We pray as one.
