204 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT The Lateran Basilica is a church in Rome, its cathedral. The Pope as the bishop of Rome is a sign of our unity in Christ. Let us pray for Christians in every part of the world. (pause) Loving God, wherever we live in the world, make us all one in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 56:1, 6-7 The Lord said, "Be honest and fair! "Soon I will come to save you, and my saving power will be seen. Foreigners will follow me. They will love me and worship in my name. They will respect the Sabbath and keep our agreement. "Then I will bring them to my holy mountain and let them celebrate in my house of worship. Their sacrifices and offerings will all be welcome on my altar. And my house will be known as a house of worship for all nations." The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Confident that God hears our prayers, let us pray for the world and all its people. For the pope, that he will lead the Church wisely: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer.
