Praying Together 2021
207 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Today we remember Saint Josaphat who worked for Christian unity. Let us pray for the day when all will be one. (pause) God of oneness and peace, help us recognise your rich gifts in others and build unity from our differences. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 13:24-27, 29, 32 Jesus said to his disciples: “The sun will become dark, and the moon will no longer shine. The stars will fall, and the powers in the sky will be shaken.’ Then the Son of Man will be seen coming in the clouds with great power and glory. He will send his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over the earth. So when you see all these things happening, you will know that the time has almost come. No one knows the day or the time. The angels in heaven don’t know, and the Son himself doesn’t know. Only the Father knows.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE This reading from Mark’s gospel reminds us of the awesome power of God – the God who created the sun, moon, stars and all the majesty of creation. Because God created the world, there are some things only God the Father knows. Let’s join in this wonderful song of praise: “How Awesome is the Lord Most High” b y Chris Tomlin. When you get to know this song, you will enjoy singing it in full voice! DISMISSAL May the fire of the Spirit inflame our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Friday St Josaphat 12 November 2021 “Only the Father knows.”
