209 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will guide us. (pause) God of wisdom and love, by the power of the Holy Spirit teach us your way and guide us to follow it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus said to his disciples: “Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Knowing that our God is near, let us pray for the world in which we live. For those who serve and lead the Church: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For strength to work for treasure in heaven: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For wisdom to follow in the way God guides us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For eyes to see the needs of those around us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the wisdom of the Spirit sustain us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
