209 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the peace of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will guide us. (pause) God of wisdom and love, by the power of the Holy Spirit teach us your way and guide us to follow it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus said to his disciples: “Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Knowing that our God is near, let us pray for the world in which we live.
