214 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will be united to Christ and bear fruit in our lives. (pause) O God, source of all wisdom, fill us with love and kindness so we may give ourselves to your service. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the second letter of St Paul to the Corinthians 6:4-6 Brothers and sisters: In everything and in every way we show that we truly are God's servants. We have always been patient, though we have had a lot of trouble, suffering, and hard times. We have been beaten, put in jail, and hurt in riots. We have worked hard and have gone without sleep or food. But we have kept ourselves pure and have been understanding, patient, and kind. The Holy Spirit has been with us, and our love has been real. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Trusting that God is close to us, let us pray for the needs of the world. For those who generously serve others: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who are victims of violence: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For strength to be patient and understanding: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For kind actions that show our love is real: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the Holy Spirit enlighten us. Amen.
