215 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT We remember hundreds of brave Christians in Vietnam who suffered and died for what they believed. Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Vietnam and for ourselves that God will make us strong in faith. (pause) God of peace, grant us courage and protection when we are hurt by violence. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Ephesians 6:18-20 Brothers and sisters: Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people. Pray that I will be given the message to speak. And pray that I will be brave and will speak as I should. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Confident that God hears our prayers, let us pray for the needs of the world. For God’s people in nations around the world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer.
