216 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that God will keep us from harm. (pause) Almighty and merciful God, set our hearts and spirits free to do your work on earth. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 30:19-20 , 23-24, 26 People of Jerusalem, you don't need to cry anymore. The Lord is kind, and as soon as he hears your cries for help, he will come. The Lord has brought trouble and sorrow by not giving you enough bread and water. But now you will again see the Lord, your teacher, and he will guide you. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Rejoicing in the presence of God, let us pray for the needs of the world.
