Praying Together 2021

218 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the grace and peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT As we begin our Advent journey let us pray. (pause) Almighty God, grant us the joy of seeing your promise and help us make a straight path for the coming of Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of Revelation 21:2, 4-7 I saw a new heaven and a new earth. God will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. Then the one sitting on the throne said: I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. Everything is finished! I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty. All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Today’s bible reading tells of John’s vision of the heavenly city built by God What do you imagine heaven might look like? You might like to share your ideas with the group. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. DISMISSAL May the God of hope fill us with joy. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle.
