Praying Together 2021
219 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the grace and peace of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Like his brother Saint Peter, Saint Andrew was a fisherman and was one of the twelve apostles. Let us pray that we too will be bold in following Christ. (pause) After the example of Saint Andrew, O God, help us love Christ more dearly and follow him more nearly. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 4:18-20 While Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers. One was Simon, also known as Peter, and the other was Andrew. They were fishermen, and they were casting their net into the lake. Jesus said to them, "Come with me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish." Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Gathered as followers of Christ, let us pray for the needs of the world. For wisdom to make good decisions in our lives: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For courage to follow Jesus more closely: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For peace and harmony in our families: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those growing in the love of God: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May Christ the Lord walk beside us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Tuesday St Andrew 30 November 2021 “Jesus said to them, ‘Come with me!’”
