Praying Together 2021

224 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the love of Christ be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Saint Ambrose was a bishop and a wise teacher for those who were newly baptised. Let us pray for the bishops who lead the Church today. (pause) God our shepherd, grant to our bishops the courage to protect their flock from harm. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 30:19, 20b=21 The Lord is kind, and as soon as he hears you crying, he will come to help you. He is your guide, and he will no longer be hidden from you. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, “This is the road! Now follow it.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Isaiah assures us in the scripture reading today that God will guide us in our lives and show us which path to take. Sometimes we need to spend a while in prayer to understand what God wants for us. We know that God wants what is best for us, and that is why we choose to follow in the way God shows us. As you sing the words to this song , “I Will Follow” by Chris Tomlin, let it be your prayer to God today. DISMISSAL May Christ our Light guide us in hope. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Tuesday St Ambrose 7 December 2021 “He is your guide, and he will no longer be hidden from you.”
