Praying Together 2021

24 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT Baptism first joined us to Christ. Let us pray that Lent will renew our life with Christ. (pause) May the water of our Baptism always be a living spring inside us giving us new life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark 9:2-4, 7 Jesus took Peter, James and John with him onto a high mountain where they could be alone. There, in front of the disciples, Jesus was completely changed. His clothes became much whiter than any bleach on earth could make them. Then Moses and Elijah were there talking with Jesus. The shadow of a cloud passed over and covered them. From the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son and I love him. Listen to what he says!” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Gathered this day in the love of God, let us pray for the needs of the world. For ears to hear the voice of Jesus: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For eyes to see the wonder of creation: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For faith that God can change us: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For hands to do God’s work on earth: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God bless us and protect us and bring us to eternal life. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
