27 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will be faithful in serving God. (pause) O God, make us eager to serve you in faith, hope and love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Ezekiel 36:26-28 The Lord says this: “I will give you a new heart and a new mind. In place of your stone heart, I will give you a heart with feeling. I will put my Spirit in you and make you eager to obey my teachings and laws. You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors. You will be my people, and I will be your God.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Confident that our God is near, we remember God’s care for the needs of the world. For those who mourn the death of a loved one: (pause) We pray as one.Gracious God, hear our prayer. For refugees who seek a home: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those suffering from mental illness: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who do not know God: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer.
