31 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we will recognise God’s presence in our world. (pause) God of love, open our eyes to see your hand at work in the splendours of creation, in the beauty of human life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Jeremiah 17:7-8 The Lord said: I will bless those who trust me. They will be like trees growing beside a stream, Trees with roots that reach down to the water, And with leaves that are always green. They bear fruit every year and are never worried by a lack of rain. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Rejoicing in the presence of God, let us pray for the needs of the world. For wisdom to be good caretakers of the earth: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For farmers who grow food for our families: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For artists who help us see with new eyes: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For all endangered species: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May God bless us and protect us and bring us to eternal life. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
