Praying Together 2021
32 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray for pardon and peace. (pause) God of mercy, may your goodness surpass both what we deserve and what we desire. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 4:46, 49-53 There was an official in Capernaum whose son was sick. The man said to Jesus, “Lord, please come before my son dies!” Jesus then said, “Your son will live. Go on home to him.” The man believed Jesus and started back home. Some of the official’s servants met him along the road and told him, “Your son is better!” He asked them when the boy got better, and they answered, “The fever left him yesterday at one o’clock.” The boy’s father realised that at one o’clock the day before Jesus had told him, “Your son will live!” So the man and everyone in his family put their faith in Jesus. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE When we have faith in Jesus, amazing things can happen. As you sit quietly for a few moments, bring to mind something in your life that you would like to ask Jesus to help you with. (pause) As you breathe in deeply, imagine you are being filled with faith in Jesus. As you breathe out, imagine any doubts or worries leaving your mind. DISMISSAL May God bless us and protect us and bring us to eternal life. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “So the man and everyone in his family put their faith in Jesus.” Wednesday Week 3 Lent 10 March 2021
