Praying Together 2021

35 Week Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT In these days of Lent, as we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection, let us pray that we will follow Christ more closely. (pause) Save us, Lord our God. Help us to take up our cross and follow Christ so that we may be one with him in life and joy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 50:4-8 The Lord All-Powerful gives me just the right words to comfort the weary. Each morning he makes me eager to learn his teaching. The Lord All-Powerful made me willing to listen and not rebel or run away. And so I let them beat my back and pull out my beard. I didn’t turn aside when they made fun of me and spat in my face. But the Lord God keeps me from being embarrassed. So I refuse to give up, because I know God will never let me down. My protector is nearby. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
