Praying Together 2021
37 Week \ Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. COLLECT Saint Patrick was a bishop who preached the love of Christ in Ireland. Since then, Irish people have spread the gospel to the ends of the earth. Let us pray for all missionaries. (pause ) Eternal God, as you sent Saint Patrick to teach the Gospel to the people of Ireland, so may we bring peace and joy to others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians 12:4-7 Brothers and sisters: There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do. The Spirit has given us each a special way of serving others. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Today’s Scripture reading reminds us that we each have a special way of serving others. Spend a few moments thinking deeply about the gifts that the Spirit has given to you. How might you use your gifts to serve God and others? During this time, thank God for giving you these special gifts and ask for help to use them wisely. You might like to sit in silence for this time, or listen to some quiet background music. DISMISSAL May God’s face shine upon us and be gracious to us. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “The Spirit has given us each a special way of serving others.” Wednesday St Patrick 17 March 2021
