Praying Together 2021

53 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT Let us pray in confident peace and Easter hope. (pause ) God of abundance, you bless us with your gifts of creation. Help us to recognise you in the wonders of nature and in the people we meet. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 21:4-6, 9, 12 One night Peter and some of the disciples had gone fishing. Early the next morning the risen Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realise who he was. Jesus shouted, “Friends, have you caught anything?” “No!” they answered. So he told them, “Let your net down on the right side of your boat, and you will catch some fish.” They did, and the net was so full of fish that they could not drag it up into the boat. Jesus’ favourite disciple told Peter, “It’s the Lord!” When the disciples got out of the boat, they saw some bread and a charcoal fire with fish on it. Jesus said, “Come and eat!” But none of the disciples dared ask who he was. They knew he was the Lord. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE This story tells of the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he had risen from the dead. Can you imagine how surprised the disciples must have been, not only to have caught so many fish, but also to have been in the presence of Jesus again! Reflect on the wonder of this event by watching a two-minute video clip called “Miraculous Catch”. DISMISSAL May the love of God guide our minds. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “They knew he was the Lord.” Monday Week 2 Easter 12 April 2021
