54 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT Let us pray for the strength to do God’s work in the world. (pause ) Faithful God, open our hearts to the joy of the Easter mysteries, and help us to share that joy with others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 11:20-22, 26 Some of the followers from Cyprus and Cyrene went to Antioch and started telling Gentiles the good news about the Lord Jesus. The Lord’s power was with them, and many people turned to the Lord and put their faith in him. News of what was happening reached the church in Jerusalem. Then they sent Barnabas to Antioch. There in Antioch the Lord’s followers were first called Christians. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Rejoicing in the new creation of Easter, let us pray for the needs of the world. For the Church, witness to Christ’s resurrection: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the baptised, called to tell the good news: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who live lives of service: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For unity among all Christians: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May the love of God guide our minds. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
