Praying Together 2021

5 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray that we may show God’s goodness to the world. (pause) God our Father, you know us and love us for we are your children. Help us to bring peace and joy to others. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians 1:26-27, 30 My dear friends: remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn’t think that many of you were wise. But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame. You are God’s children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Today’s reading reminds us that we are God’s children. Let’s join our voices together in prayer. For leaders in our Church and in our world: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For people who are lonely and frightened: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those searching for acceptance: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For students who seek understanding: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For the prayers in our hearts today: (pause while students offer their prayers aloud) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. DISMISSAL May we try, each day, to show God’s love for all people. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “He sent Christ Jesus to save us.” Monday Week 4 Ordinary Time 1 February 2021
