Praying Together 2021
74 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT Let us pray that we will do with loving hearts what God asks of us. (pause) God our Father, strengthen our faith, hope and love that we may come to share the life you promise. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 10:1, 3-5, 8 The Lord chose seventy-two other followers and sent them out two by two to every town and village where he was about to go. He said to them: Now go, but remember, I am sending you like lambs into a pack of wolves. Don’t take along a moneybag or a travelling bag or sandals. And don’t waste time greeting people on the road. “As soon as you enter a home, say, ‘God bless this home with peace.’ “If the people of a town welcome you, eat whatever they offer you. Heal their sick and say, ‘God’s kingdom will soon be here!’” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE Jesus told the disciples that when they entered a home they were to say “God bless this home with peace”. As followers of Jesus, we can ask God to bless things and people too. For example, “God bless our school” or “God bless my Grandad today”. We can even ask God to bless people we don’t know directly: “God bless those in war-torn countries”. Let’s sit quietly in prayer for a few moments and ask God to bless those people who come into our minds and hearts. You might like to share your blessing prayers aloud. DISMISSAL May the love of God guide our minds. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “I am sending you like lambs into a pack of wolves.” .” Tuesday Week 6 Easter 11 May 2021
