Praying Together 2021
76 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT Let us pray that we may recognise the presence of Christ in our midst. (pause) Father most holy, help us remember that Jesus promised to remain with us until the end of time. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 24:50-53 Jesus led his disciples out to Bethany, where he raised his hands and blessed them. As he was doing this, he left and was taken up to heaven. After his disciples had worshipped him, they returned to Jerusalem and were very happy. They spent their time in the temple, praising God. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE In today’s gospel reading, Jesus’ disciples worshipped Jesus before he was taken up to heaven and then spent their time in the temple praising God. There are some wonderful psalms in the Old Testament written in praise of God. As you hear the words of praise and view the images of God’s wondrous creation in this video from Manna Media called “Psalm 100”, pray along in your heart. DISMISSAL May the love of God guide our minds. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Thursday Week 6 Easter 13 May 2021 “He left and was taken up to heaven.”
