6 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT When Jesus was six weeks old, he was blessed in the Temple. People saw in him the light of the world. Let us pray for the light of Christ. (pause) God of love, thank you for the gift of Jesus. May his light shine through us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke 2: 27-28, 30-32 When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to do what the Law of Moses says should be done for a new baby, the Spirit told Simeon to go into the temple. Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms and praised God, saying, "With my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people, and foreign nations will also see this. "Your mighty power is a light for all nations, and it will bring honour to your people Israel." The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. RESPONSE To reflect on the scripture reading , watch a short video w hich tells the story of when Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple. After the video, talk with each other about which parts of the story you especially remember. DISMISSAL May the love of Christ burn in our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer.
