78 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT We look forward this week to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Spirit will draw unity out of our many diverse gifts. Let us pray that the followers of Jesus may be one in love. (pause ) God of harmony and love, gather people of every race, culture, language and Christian tradition into one family of unity and peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4 On the day of Pentecost all the Lord’s followers were together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there. The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
