81 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The Lord be with you. Alleluia! And with your spirit. Alleluia! COLLECT Let us pray that God will keep us from harm. (pause) Almighty and merciful God, set our hearts and spirits free to do your work on earth. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 4:10-12 Peter told the nation’s leaders and the elders: “You put Jesus to death on a cross, but God raised him to life. He is the stone that you builders thought was worthless, and now he is the most important stone of all. Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Have you ever read a story about a superhero who saves people in trouble? In the scripture reading today, St Paul tells his listeners that Jesus is the only one in the whole world who can really save anyone.
