91 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. May the God of peace and grace be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT St Charles Lwanga was part of a group of boys and young people killed by a brutal king in Uganda. Let us pray that we will be strong in faith. (pause) In difficult times, O God, help us to be calm and to trust in you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 26:1-4 The time is coming when the people of Judah will sing this song: "Our city is protected. The Lord is our fortress, and he gives us victory. Open the city gates for a law-abiding nation that is faithful to God. The Lord gives perfect peace to those whose faith is firm. So always trust the Lord because he is forever our mighty rock. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE What wonderful news it is that we can always trust in God! Whenever you feel worried, take a few deep breaths and remember that God will take care of everything. Listen now to some quiet music. Bring into your mind the image of God as a fortress. You are safe with God. Repeat the words ‘Trust in God’ as you continue to breathe slowly. DISMISSAL May God’s care keep us from all harm. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “Always trust the Lord because he is forever our mighty rock.” Thursday St Charles Lwanga and companions 3 June 2021
