Praying Together 2021
95 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT Let us pray for the strength to follow the example of Jesus. (pause) Merciful Father, Hear the prayers of your children who call on you in love. Hep us to be faithful and lead us to fullness of life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St John 3:1,23 Think how much the Father loves us. He loves us so much that he lets us be called his children, as we truly are. But since the people of this world did not know who Christ is, they don’t know who we are. God wants us to have faith in his Son Jesus Christ and to love each other. This is also what Jesus taught us to do. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE Today’s reading tells us that God wants us to love each other. But what does that mean exactly? Love is not just a feeling – it is an action too. We show our love for people by the things we do. Can you think of some ways that you could show love to people in your family today? What about people in your school? Even small acts can show a lot of love and bring great happiness. This video, calle d “Unsung Hero” shows a man doing small acts of love for the people around him, day after day. Watch to see how the world around him changes. DISMISSAL May the love of Christ inspire us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. Wednesday Week 10 Ordinary Time 9 June 2021 “Think how much the Father loves us.”
