Praying Together 2021
97 Gather Light a candle as a sign of God’s presence and sit quietly. Ring a bell or chime to start the prayer. The love of God be with you! And with your spirit. COLLECT The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus points us to God’s love which we can see in Jesus’ kindness and care. Let us pray all may feel God’s love. (pause ) God of love, open wide our hearts so that we might know the great love you make visible in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. SCRIPTURE A reading from the first letter of St John 4:7-10 My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows that we have been given new life. We are now God's children, and we know him. God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him. God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love is not our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. RESPONSE On this special celebration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let’s sing for joy! This song by Michael Mangan will send us out to spread God’s word, with ou r “Hearts on Fire” with the love of Jesus! DISMISSAL May Christ smile graciously upon us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ring the bell or chime to signal the end of the prayer. Extinguish the candle. “ Love comes from God.” Friday The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus 11 June 2021
